CTL4 opens July 13, 1983, the day after Jonathan’s proposal: Keiko’s refractory AML forces civil marriage, Mayo transplant planning, and a full Shinto wedding (October 8) before home hospice ends her life December 27, 1983. Jonathan becomes Head of Research at Spurgeon, lays off analysts, grows AUM past $100M, and buys rental two-flats plus a Hancock Center six-bedroom condo while Bianca’s pregnancy yields Sofía Angélica Kane-Pérez (April 9, 1984). Grief counseling, Buddhist rites, and Keiko’s letter frame his refusal to remarry (Montrose niche beside her).

Bev and Glen flee toward Canada; Jonathan retrieves Heather for Goshen grandparents and fights a custody and deposition war aimed at his SEC licenses—Thomas Hart and Gwen Meyer blunt Bev on the stand.
