Book summary

Medical School III runs August 26, 1987 – early April 1988. The book opens as Rachel Michelle Loucks is born by emergency C-section and Elizaveta codes twice — she is defibrillated from V-fib, then dies in the ICU at 08:11 of a ruptured congenital AVM (mild myocarditis a red herring). Widower Deacon Mike buries her August 29, finishes OB at Good Samaritan, returns for EM/trauma at Moore Memorial (honors under Gibbs), and on November 8 is laicized by Bishop JOHN’s ukase (possible re-ordination after PGY1). He moves Rachel to a parish-funded Elm house, survives pediatrics (Rosenbaum sabotage → Olson), then psychiatry (perfect scores; Match letter), and starts Internal Medicine April 1, 1988. Code Blue plays Goshen, Taft, and Stirred Not Shaken while dating and grief scramble church and Match plans. The book ends not on Match Day but with marriage shortlist unsettled and Samantha asking him to take her virginity.
